Finally! I have time to blog… School weeks are crazy enough to drain me out.

Well, I’m TWENTY already. Birthday just flew past just like that. I want to thank those who made my 20th a very special one! (: This goes out to my lovely family; Xiaoting and Hoying who celebrated my birthday eve at Island Creamery and Golden Rooster (the name still cracks me up); Tuckmin and Junming who watched Le Chef with me and gave me a surprise at Esplanade at 12am sharp; to the Hot Beans for the ma la huo guo and the surprise and the dog food LOL; Matthews for the early Billy Bombers treat; Qinghui for the yummy XLB treat and to her and Lijun for the KILLERS CD; and to Timothy for the Haruki Murakami book Wind-Up Bird Chronicle!! And to everyone who messaged and wished me a Happy Birthday LOVE YOU GUYS! Thanks so much for remembering Anyway here are some snippets of what happened..

12am surprise at Esplanade!

Darn sweet lurh both of them. Gave me a teddy bear which is actually a speaker o.O ( I’m still not too sure how to use it.. heck just hug it or something ) and actually made OREO CHEESECAKE specially for me!!! Which was really yummy. And my family found it yummy too. And they also HANDMADE a card! Gosh I was so touched. Didn’t know guys could be so sweet! Thank you TM and JM!

Well back to school stuff..

Had mentoring on Tuesday, our first session at Henderson Secondary – and it was really fun and meaningful. After hearing the life stories of the students, I really saw them in a different light. Realized there are so many others out there who really needs the attention and love, and yup this is how I want to spend my university life – helping others and not only myself.

Wednesday we went to the Art Museum for Creative Thinking class! I think Margaret Chan is really interesting and passionate about the arts, and she is not afraid of pursuing it even though it’s not the common route. Respect! Anyway the art museum was really interesting! Thought that the Big Picture exhibition was really cool. Then when we came back to class we had a discussion, and she mentioned a quote which goes like this:

“Photography is the absence of presence.”

Which I felt was so true.

Originally, we see photography as a certificate of presence. However, another artiste saw it as an absence of presence when his mother passed away, and all he could do to reminisce of his mother was to look at her photographs. What’s taken in photographs, can never be reenacted exactly the same ever again. You can put yourself into the same place with the same friends and same environment to take the same picture, however the feelings can never be the same – somehow something feels different. Well this taught me to cherish precious moments in life, as most of them can never happen again.

Thursday I had lunch with Uncle Tim and finally got my BGS text from him! But it was darn funny, he forgot to pass me the text in Orchard and had to come back to school to pass to me. -.- Bet he melted on the way home.. Ice cream Tim. Thanks for the hokkien mee treat haha, and accompanying me around to the Thai Embassy and Sistic. (:

Then after the cui but quite productive 9pm Econs class, I went to watch American Gangster at Cathay with angsty Matt and his friends. There’s nudity, violence and drugs, but the show was pretty thought-provoking. It’s about drug dealing during the Vietnam war. But was darn tired after the whole day so almost dozed off during the movie. =x

And oh, I baked hazelnut chewies today! They passed the tasting test (my brother) so I think they should be pretty good? You can see and judge for yourself

Ok super random but, I like to watch Larry King Live on CNN. And Anderson Cooper 360 too. Began watching ever since the trip to US, Canada and London. Today’s Larry King episode on UFOs is super interesting. Well, I believe there are stranger beings out there.. waiting to be discovered.. heh.

And I’m VERY HAPPY! Why? Because there’s super yummy YOU-MIAN in Simei!!! (Matt I know you hates MIAN but this is very very good.) I’ve been bugging my father to help me buy.. so I’ve eaten twice already but it’s damn nice. Love the springy noodles and add alot alot of CHILLI omg slurps. (:

Damn happening these few days. But somehow school is constantly tugging at the back of my mind. And it’s starting tomorrow! But I really really ( guarantee chop with stamp ) enjoyed myself this holiday – I can say this past month has been one of the best holidays I’ve ever had, even though the only place out of Singapore I went to is Malaysia, which is the kelong at Sibu haha.

Y Camp Challenge, Kelong fishing trip, beautiful cousin’s wedding, first LIVE tennis match (sharapova!), CRAZY countdowns (christmas and new year!), spending much precious time with old friends (hot beans! clarissa! 4a1 gang! shooting gang! sarah!) and yet making so many more new ones.. It feels like a new beginning for me y’know? - Now I know exactly how I’m going to spend my next 3 years in university.

Anyway I didn’t expect it to be so fun! Fishing at midnight .. star-gazing ( there were so many stars at night, beautiful! ) .. chilling and chatting beside the sea .. Indian poker + drinking Baileys at 2 in the morning .. Bridge and German bridge (which lasted 1 hour and I lost =/) .. Daidee .. but what matters most is the company! Thanks to Huiqi and Timothy.. and the SMURF club peeps are also super duper friendly, nice and FUN people

After the crazy night, we missed the 12pm ferry boat sampan in the morning because lunch took too long to cook, so we had to wait for the 4pm one! But it was a blessing in disguise man.. the weather was great! ( to take pictures haha. the first kelong pic was taken at this time as well )

Series of events that happened before the end of 2007..

We got free tickets courtesy of Tim X. (: So I asked Qinghui along! That was my first live tennis match, pretty exciting stuff haha.

Countdown 2007

Spent countdown this year with the crazy siao-kias cum domestic partners TM and JM, and Huimun. Went down to Paradiz to meet them for pool, before heading to Esplanade for the fireworks. Esplanade was freaking PACKED. But luckily we got to a place opposite Suntec where we got a pretty good view of the fireworks, heh. Pretty pretty fireworks.

After the fireworks we headed to Geylang for supper! TM’s “di pan” was so drama. We saw a drunkard lying on the road which was quite.. disgusting, and we also witnessed a fight where there was throwing of chairs and yelling. -.- Anyway we ate Lor9 Beef Kway Teow! YUM. Then after that we decided to go ECP watch the “sunrise”. Spent like 3 hours at the rocks emo-ing with music blasting from handphone, chatting, lame-ing, gazing at stars, threatening to push each other into the sea, watched people throwing sparkles into the sea, laughed until our stomachs hurt….. then the sun rose. -.- Quite pathetic because there were too many clouds haha. So when there was light then we went to eat Mac breakfast, then chiong-ed home to SLEEP.

Reached home at 830am, slept from 930am to 1pm, then headed to Vivo to meet dear Wendy! Heh was a bit blur the whole time because haven’t really woke up =x But we ate Carlsy, nua-ed on the top floor of Vivo….. then went to Kovan for PRATA! Although we were quite full already the paper prata was still very GOOD, especially their curry also. Some prata stalls have lousy curry lurh, but this stall’s curry is hot and yummy.

Alright.. it’s 2nd Jan 2008 already! Urgh. I’m so not looking forward to 7th Jan. Currently watching Romantic Princess, quite a nice twdrama, and Gokusen, a darn funny Jdrama. OK I’m off to CYCLE!
